Rhinoplasty in Orlando, FL

Whether because of genetics or injury, aesthetic issues with the nose can be frustrating. Luckily, rhinoplasty (cosmetic nose surgery) can help.

Rhinoplasty is a cosmetic procedure that helps men and women correct noses that are too big or too small, crooked (either naturally or the result of a broken nose), or aesthetically unpleasing in any way (drooping nasal tip, nasal humps on the bridge, etc.). Additionally, a variation of rhinoplasty can help correct functional issues with the nose, such as a deviated septum or other breathing issue caused by the structure of the nose.

Am I a Candidate for Rhinoplasty?

If you are frustrated or embarrassed by the shape, projection, or overall look of your nose, then rhinoplasty may be the procedure for you.

As with any cosmetic procedure, the first and most important step of your nose correction surgery is your consultation. At your rhinoplasty consultation, you will be able to explain your cosmetic frustrations and goals, and Dr. Gonzalez will be able to examine your nose to determine which approach is right for you.

In addition to rhinoplasty, some patients may benefit from the other facial cosmetic procedures, such as facelift surgery, brow lift surgery (forehead lift), or eyelid lift surgery (blepharoplasty). By combining procedures, you can achieve a more complete facial transformation.

How Is Rhinoplasty Performed?

In most cases, rhinoplasty is performed under general anesthesia as an outpatient procedure.

There are two common methods that can be used with corrective nose surgery: open and closed rhinoplasty.

With open rhinoplasty, Dr. Gonzalez will make an incision across the columella, which is the thin area of skin and cartilage between the nostrils. With this incision option, Dr. Gonzalez is able to have a clear view of the nasal structure.

For closed (endonasal) rhinoplasty, Dr. Gonzalez will make all needed incisions within the nostrils. While this technique doesn’t allow for the same clear view as open rhinoplasty, there will be no visible scarring and many common nasal concerns can be corrected with this technique.

The specific technique(s) used in the surgery is dependent on the correction needed. Noses that are too large require Dr. Gonzalez to remove cartilage, tissue, and/or bone from the nose.

Conversely, noses that are too small in proportion to the facial structure may require repositioning of the cartilage already in the nose or a cartilage graft (where cartilage is taken from the ears or rib and transferred to the nose).

Once the bone, tissue, and/or cartilage are in the correct position, then the skin will be redraped over the newly structured nose (in open rhinoplasty cases), and the incisions are closed.

What Is Rhinoplasty Recovery Like?

After your rhinoplasty, you will have bruising and swelling in and around your nose. Additionally, you should expect to feel some discomfort and soreness in the general area. These side effects should dissipate within a few weeks, and prescription or over-the-counter medication can be taken to alleviate any pain you may experience.

For most patients, the healing process takes two to four weeks. To help your recovery and results, it is important that you rest and follow all post-op instructions. This includes avoiding any strenuous activity.

Frequently Asked Questions About Rhinoplasty

How much does rhinoplasty cost?

As with any plastic surgery procedure, rhinoplasty cost varies with each patient and procedure. This is because the cost is dependent on the type and extent of correction needed. At your consultation, you will be provided a detailed price estimate.

While there are many plastic surgeons out there, it is important that you choose a surgeon you trust. Dr. Gonzalez has the experience and knowledge to give you the care and results you desire. Additionally, Le Contour Aesthetic Surgery takes several payment methods, including low-interest financing.

Can I use insurance to pay for my eyelid surgery?

If you are undergoing rhinoplasty for cosmetic purposes, then insurance will not cover your procedure. However, if there is a medical concern that rhinoplasty can help correct, then you may be able to get coverage from your insurance provider. If this is the case, we will be happy to help you submit any necessary information to process your claim with your insurance company.

Can rhinoplasty fix my breathing problems?

If your breathing issues are the result of a structural issue with your nose, then rhinoplasty may be able to help. At your consultation, Dr. Gonzalez will be able to examine your nasal structure to determine if rhinoplasty is the right procedure for you.

What about ethnic rhinoplasty?

Men and women of different ethnicities have different nasal structures. It is important that you maintain your ethnic appearance after your rhinoplasty. Because of this, Dr. Gonzalez will discuss any specifics with you during your consultation so that he can personalize your treatment plan and work to give you results you can be proud of.
